Chobham Ridge is a premier rifle shooting range located in Lightwater, operated by the National Rifle Association (NRA). Housed on a former Ministry of Defence anti-tank range, it offers shooters a unique experience with steel targets positioned from 200 yards to over 1100 yards, providing extended-range shooting opportunities rarely available in the UK.
The range serves NRA members, affiliated club members and their guests, catering to both individual shooters and organised groups. It accommodates up to 8 shooters under one Range Officer, expanding to 12 with dual supervision. From 2026, the range introduces flexibility through optional half-day session splits, enabling clubs to rotate shooters during lunchtime breaks whilst maintaining full-day bookings. For those uncertain about committing to a full day, Member Days offer subsidised half-day experiences under expert supervision.
The range enforces strict requirements: only .308/7.62 calibre rifles permitted with specific velocity and energy limits, no tracer ammunition, and no spectators. All attendees receive comprehensive range briefs at Bisley Camp before the 15-minute journey to the external range entrance.
